Rebel Yell Bourbon was started in 1849 by William Larue Weller who was one of the first people to replace rye with wheat in his whiskey mash bill. The original name of the company was W.L. Weller & Sons until it merged with the Stitzel distillery company which was founded around 1872. That name may be familiar to you if your a fan of Weller or Pappy Van Winkle.
